I am David Cazares, a person who has surrounded himself with experts in leadership and sales with the goal of getting the most out of his life.
David was not born an expert in leadership
I am pleased to share my life story, considering that it was very beautiful, despite all the difficulties I experienced from an early age. Not all people are born in stable conditions. In my case, for example, I had to see my mother work very hard to be able to feed and educate 7 children, being the third of them.
Even though these situations occur, I am left with the phrase of my mentor Misael Díaz: “your past does not define your future, your actions today are what define what you will achieve.” That is why I can say that since I was a child I realized that I had special abilities to transform my life. Maybe at that time I did not imagine being part of the leadership and sales experts who today help dozens of people, but I did have the faith and willpower to get ahead.
When I was about 7 years old, I started working at my grandmother’s fruit and vegetable market. I learned to sell, I knew the feeling of competing with others and I realized that I had the ability to influence other people.
Being an expert leadership coach is for dreamers
At 16, I emigrated to the United States from my hometown. I was alone, I had no family in that new destination and I didn’t know anyone. But I had many dreams to fulfill. So my first job was at that age, in a role I already knew: sales.
I started selling popsicles on the streets of Santa Ana, California. I did it for almost a year until the cold and rain began. Afterwards, I worked in a restaurant, learning a lot about that industry. I was a cook, I became a Chef, Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager, until I was finally able to open my own restaurants.
I owned 3 restaurants in total, which were open for a little over 10 years, until 2016 when due to personal, family and financial problems I ended up closing and signing a bankruptcy. That’s where I had a breaking point, and one of the greatest learnings of my life.

A new beginning
It was in 2017 that I decided to use my knowledge as a mentor, but I came across a very big barrier. I didn’t know how to do it, or where to start. This situation led me to hire mentors who help me on this path of learning and teaching.
Years of preparation
2018 was the year I began my learning with the highest authority in Leadership: the John Maxwell Team academy. In the midst of the 2020 pandemic, I became certified as a Coach, Mentor and Speaker of John Maxwell, using his teachings and growth guides.

Between 2019 and 2021, I met the best leadership experts. They have been important for my life and professional career. Such as my teacher and friend Victor Bejar (RIP), who wrote the prologue of my second book 5 Keys to Your Transformation; Gerson Calderón, from Empowered Living Español; Misael Díaz, from The aLeadership Academy; Paul Martinelli, mentor of all the above.
